Army clearing after Karding

FORT RAMON MAGSAYSAY, Palayan City — Various Army units under 7th Infantry
Division (7ID) waged all-out support in clearing operations “to ensure the mobility
in Central Luzon” in the aftermath of Typhoon Karding.

The operations started Sept. 26 in the region and adjoining places, said the
division’s public affairs office.

The 91st Infantry Battalion (91IB), in coordination with the Aurora provincial
government, conducted clearing efforts in calamity areas in the province,
according to the DPAO, adding that the troops also evacuated residents living in
coastal areas of Dingalan and San Luis towns in Aurora and Laur in Nueva Ecija.

“Meanwhile, 3rd Mechanized Infantry Battalion disaster response teams cleared
toppled trees and debris left by Karding in Tarlac City and other key roads in the
province. Additionally, 70th Infantry Battalion troops, together with local
government responders, cleared debris and uprooted trees that blocked key
roads in Bulacan,” it added.

All in all, 7ID deployed nearly 200 personnel to assist in humanitarian assistance
and disaster response efforts across Central Luzon.

This, as the 7ID headquarters and the 2nd Infantry Division, the 525th Engineer
Combat Battalion have reportedly deployed nearly a thousand troops that
comprise the Army’s standby force for the super typhoon.

Army units are closely coordinating with other national government agencies,
local government units, and private sector responders in launching bayanihan
efforts for Karding victims across the region.
