Ready na nga ba talaga si Isabelle Daza na totohanin ang showbiz?
Noong model pa lang si Isavbelle di siya maka-decide kung mag-aartista siya. Ni hindi nga niya masagot ang tanong kung gusto ba niyang maging beauty queen like her mom, Gloria Diaz na naging Miss Universe in her times.
"No," she would say. "My mom is a tough act to follow."
Being the first daughter of a former Miss Universe scared her no end, the reason why she opted to be on the tougher side. Isabelle labeled herself a tomboy in high school through college, joining sports activities in school.
But did you know she took up education in college. Parang baligtad po, di po ba, she is tough pero napaka-soft ng kurso niya.
Pero Isabel ended up a model instead dahil irresistible daw ang offer sa kanya.
“I really didn’t consider myself beautiful,” she shares during an interview at Ryu Ramen. “Wherever I go, I always tell myself, there are other girls who are prettier than me around. Kahit dito (pointing her finger around)…”
She has always been a reluctant star.
Or, maybe just taking things one at a time. At 25, she should be in a hurry to grab opportunities coming her way, but Isabelle opts to take things easy.
They’re like being served in a silver platter, but she picks them to her heart’s desire—one by one, the latest of which is her appearance sa movie nina Sarah Geronimo at John Lloyd Cruz.
And she has a grand time working with John Lloyd and Sarah. “It was fun, and a great learning experience, as well,” she says.
Now, she is also in an indie movie, Lihis, directed by Joel Lamangan. This is for her a bigger challenge as she acts vis-a-vis her mom, Gloria Diaz, and other award-winning performers like Lovi Poe, Jake Cuenca and Joem Bascon. She even asked her director to have her undergo a new workshop but he declined.
“Gusto raw niya (Direk Joel), raw lang ‘yung acting,” she divulges. “But there are scenes talaga I don’t feel like I’ve done my best. Kahit sa It Takes A Man, gusto ko sana, mag-workshop muna, pero ayaw ni Direk Cathy (Molina). Yun din ang sinabi niya.”
