FLORIDABLANCA – The Philippine Air Force (PAF) at Basa Air Base sponsored a medical-dental mission in Barangay Mawacat here on Saturday, benefiting some 300 Aetas.

Brigadier Gen. Edwin Manuel Remotigue, commander of the PAF based here, said the mission is part of pre-anniversary activities of the air force, which will celebrate its 64th founding anniversary on July 1.
He added that the project’s theme is “Ang inyong Hukbong Himpapawid Kaakibat sa Kaunlaran at Kaisa sa Kapayapaan.

The medical-dental mission was co-sponsored by the Rotary Club of Clarkfield, District 3790 led by Miss Gian Marie Castellvi.

PAF Major Augusto “Gen” Padua expressed gratitude to the Rotary club members for making the project possible in one of the remotest areas in Pampanga.

The PAF said some 240 Aetas availed of the free medical check-up. Free medicines were also given to beneficiaries.

“Only handful sought dental care because many of the Aetas are afraid of it,” said Padua.

Remotigue said the medical-dental project is part of the PAF’s Civic Action Program.

Recently, Gov. Lilia “Baby” Pineda also held a medical mission in Mawacat as part of her priority program on health.
