ANGELES CITY – Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. has announced on November 15, that the city government will send food packs worth P2 million to 4,000 families in Cagayan and Isabela severely affected by typhoon Ulysses.

“Tungkulin natin bilang Pilipino na tulungan ang mga kapwa nating Pilipino,” Lazatin said.

The city government is set to coordinate with officers of the Philippine Air Force to transport and deliver 4,000 relief goods to Cagayan and Isabela, which will be personally supervised by Mayor Lazatin’s Chief Adviser and Tactician Director IC Calaguas and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel.

Among the key offices deputized by Mayor Lazatin for Angeles City to send help to Cagayan and Isabela are members of the Angeles City Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Office (ACDRRMO) led by Rudy Simeon and City Social and Welfare Development Office (CSWDO) headed by Edna Duaso.

Mayor Lazatin is also urging his constituents that if they have “pre-loved” items, or are interested to donate food items such as canned goods and rice, money or other useful items, they can spare these for the victims of the typhoon by dropping these off at the CSWDO.

Because of the succeeding typhoons ravaging parts of the country, the city government will continuously send aid to the victims.

In fact, this coming November 20, the city government is set to deliver 4,000 relief packages to families affected by typhoon Rolly in Polangui town in Albay. The relief operation will be headed by Maria Cielo Sarion of CSWDO, and ACDRRMO Head Rudy Simeon.

It can be recalled that Mayor Lazatin has also sent help to disaster-stricken areas in the country in the past.

In December 2019, the city handed-over relief goods and a cash donation of P500,000 each to 10 municipalities in North Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Davao Del Sur, which were severely affected by the strong successive earthquakes in October.

In addition, last January and February, the city government sent 3 truckloads of relief goods and hygiene kits and 3 passenger vehicles carrying a medical team, social workers, and volunteers to the municipalities of Tuy and Balayan, and City of Lipa in Batangas, and City of Legazpi in Albay, to the families who were greatly affected by the recent eruption of Taal Volcano and Typhoon Tisoy, respectively.
