AC cited for 2022 ‘good financial housekeeping’

The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) has cited the Angeles LGU led by Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. for its “Good Financial Housekeeping” (GFH) in 2022.

The Angeles LGU is among the 13 cities all over the Philippines that was cited for the 2022 Good Financial Housekeeping.

The other cities include: City of Balanga, City of Malolos, City of Meycuayan, City of San Jose Del Monte, City of Olongapo, City of Cabanatuan, City of Gapan, City of San Jose, Science City of Munoz, City of San Fernando, Mabalacat City, and Tarlac City.

The list of GFH passers in 2022 signed by BLGS OIC Director Debie T. Torres, CESO V, also include all of the seven provinces in Region III namely, Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac, and Zambales.

The DILG uses the following criteria in determining GFH passers:

Most recent available Commission on Audit Opinion is Unqualified or Qualified

Compliance with the Full Disclosure Policy (FDP), which involves the posting of financial documents in three conspicuous places and in the FDP portal for all quarters of the previous years

Mayor Lazatin maintains transparency in the financial standing of the Angeles LGU which collected nearly P3 billion revenues for 2022.

For 2022, the Angeles City LGU posted a combined revenue of P2,981,699,476.69 in local and external sources, based on the report of Angeles City Treasurer Officer in Charge Jenifer S. Castro. The 2022 revenue surpassed the income target of P2,859,789,832.00.

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Angeles City LGU in 2021 recorded an income of ₱2,332,379,301.33. The city also collected Real Property Tax collection amounting to P300,585,473.70 in 2022 compared to the ₱254,30,066.18 in 2021.

The year-on-year increase in revenues of the Angeles LGU is anchored in the efficient tax collection scheme of Mayor Lazatin, who kept his promise not to increase local taxes in the wake of the pandemic.
