ANGELES CITY – Angeles City Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan led the newly elected and re-elected Punong Barangay and Barangay Officials on their oath-taking rites held Wednesday, June 20 at the New Rib- Eye Function Hall, Angeles City.
Vice Mayor Bryan Matthew C. Nepomuceno welcomed the officials to the solemn ceremony organized by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
Those who took oath were proclaimed winners after the joint Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections that took place last May 14.
DILG-Angeles City Director Martin Porres Moral introduced the 15 re-elected and 18 newly-elected Barangay Captains of Angeles City, almost all Barangay officials of the 33 barangays of Angeles City were present.
City Mayor Pamintuan took the time to prompt the elected barangay leaders to peel away from a political mindset that may divide them, and instead focus on how they can work together for the mutual benefi t of all the Angeleños.
“We should always remember that the voice of the people is the voice of God, the welfare of the people is the supreme law,” the mayor said assuring that the local government is more than ready for the initiatives of these elected leaders.
The re-elected barangay captains of Angeles City include: Judy S. Susan of Barangay Agapito Del Rosario, Cecilia N. Nepomuceno of Barangay Cutcut, Alfred S. Bulaun of Barangay Lourdes Sur East, Reynaldo N. Gueco of Barangay Malabanias, Jose A. Bagang of Barangay Margot, Cristano G. Cortez of Mining, Luis D. De Luna of Barangay Pampang, Jeremias M. Alejandrino of Barangay Pandan, Bernardo D. Santos of Barangay Pulungbulu, Harry P. Castro of Barangay San Jose, Amelia E. Torres of Barangay San Nicolas, Marino D. Banola of Sta. Teresita, Danilo M. Nacu of Sta. Trinidad, Alma D. Mercado of Barangay Tabun, and Ronald S. Diangson of Barangay Virgin Delos Remedios.
Meanwhile, the newly- elected village chiefs are: Ronnie Dela Cruz Rogando of Barangay Amsic, Augusto L. Flores of Barangay Anunas, Carmelo F. Lazatin of Barangay Balibago, Rafael G. Bondoc of Barangay Capaya, Alexander S. De Guzman of Claro M. Recto, Rufi no M. Candelaria of Barangay Cuayan, Joen Jun S. Ferraris of Barangay Cutud, Andres G. Tan of Lourdes North West, Bernard U. Dayrit of Barangay Lourdes Sur, Ricardo P. Dizon of Barangay Ninoy Aquino, Francisco N. Cura of Barangay Pulung Cacutud, Armando L. Oliveros of Barangay Pulung Maragul, Alberto C. Chapter 3, Section 389 of the Local Government Code of the Philippines lists the powers and functions of the Punong Barangay or Barangay Captain, some of which are to enforce all laws and ordinances which are applicable within the respective Barangay, maintain its public order, and thereof assist the city or municipal mayor and the sangguniang members in the performance of their duties and functions.
All barangay officials will officially start their tenure of office on July 1, 2018.
