FOR A man who is supposed to have been given his walking papers, Clark Development Corp. President-CEO Felipe Antonio Remollo acts as though he’d be at his post forever.
He simply would not, could not, stop from pursuing developments for the Clark Freeport.
Last Tuesday, Remollo broke ground with Korean investors to signal the construction of a P200-million golf clubhouse at a 304-hectare area designated as a leisure estate.
Donggwang Clark Corporation is set to invest $400 million for the construction of a world-class tourism estate that shall cover a 36-hole golf course, clubhouse, condominium with 330 rooms, water park, spa and gymnasium, eco park, business and commercial center, an international school, golf academy and driving range, clinic and drug store, hotel, casino, 500-unit villas and shopping arcade.
Earlier in the day, Remollo led the inauguration of Tower 1 and 2 of Donggwang’s Clark ODE County Officetel.
As recent as last week, Remollo signed a memorandum of agreement that renewed the Nayong Pilipino Foundation’s contract with CDC on the former Expo Filipino site for another 15 years.
The NPF will invest P50 million to cover repair and construction work, a new museum, orchidarium, and a “Laruang Pilipino” in the 5.9-hectare site.
And then, there’s Remollo initiating with the Gawad Kalinga Community Development Foundation, Inc. the construction of an initial batch of 20 houses for Aeta families at Sitio Monicayo, Bamban which lies in the Clark Highlands.
All these major activities – and only just the publicized ones – in less than a fortnight! Truly remarkable for one about to relinquish his post.
There’s one heck of a professional!
For a man who is supposed to be walking on a tightrope to keep his balance as much as his position, Clark International Airport Corp. President-CEO Victor Jose Luciano should be avoiding entanglements like the plague.
But no, Luciano seems to even relish them.
Yet to die down is the brouhaha over the non-issue that is the international airport at Clark stripped of its Diosdado Macapagal tag – for which Luciano was damned, notwithstanding his pointing the finger at Remollo – and already Luciano is in the eye of the storm, a series of storms, anew.
Angeles City Mayor Ed Pamintuan breathed fire at Luciano’s alleged scheming that shoved him out of the “historic” signing of an airport sisterhood pact between Clark and Davao set on March 28.
Read a text message we received: “The connectivity of Davao and Clark was the initiative of REID (Foundation).
So (name withheld) et al were terribly disappointed and frustrated with what transpired…The intent of the reciprocal trips of both Davao and Angeles mayors was to forge closer ties and promote both cities.
Without (EdPam) going to Davao anymore, and this being independent of the airport event, could a sister cityhood agreement be signed between (EdPam) and Mayor Duterte on the 27th?”
Said a Pamintuan partisan: “Luciano’s Machiavellian stratagem corrupted history in the making.”
No, I don’t believe claims that this is Luciano’s getting back at Pamintuan for the slew of denunciation thrown at him for l’affaire DMIA.
Neither do I take it as Luciano’s revenge for Pamintuan’s chief of staff Alexander Cauguiran’s j’accuse elocution before the Luciano and the Pampanga mayors on the same DMIA issue.
Speaking of mayors, Candaba’s Jerry Pelayo who is also the league president, has announced that more cases before the Ombudsman are being prepared against Luciano, the cable theft at the airport ramp and runway only one of them.
All these, major, major controversies enough to drive a man out of office. But not the unperturbed Luciano. Truly remarkable for one walking the wires.
There’s one heck of a survivor – as in that reality show: Outwit. Outplay. Outlast.
