MANILA – In cooperation with the local food industry, Farm Fresh Products and the Department of Agriculture are set to launch the Adopt-A-Town, Adopt-A-Farmer Program at the Bureau of Soils and Water Management Convention Hall in Quezon City on Oct. 13.

Farm Fresh Products founder Jerry Pelayo, a former three-term mayor of Candaba, Pampanga, said Adopt-A-Town, Adopt-A-Farmer Program will introduce for its first project “the instant chopsuey and pinakbet,” which intends to minimize if not totally eliminate wastage of farm produce, “as ingredients for the instant food package will be sourced directly from the farmers, which will make the products affordable, aside from being nutritious.”

According to Pelayo, the instant food package will be made readily available for consumption and distribution to different government agencies including the Department of Education for the school-based feeding programs, the Department of National Defense for disaster relief operations, the Department of Social Welfare and Development for its supplementary feeding programs and the Bureau of Corrections for its feeding programs for its inmates.

“This project is in support of the Department of Agriculture’s commitment in providing safe and nutritious food that is accessible to Filipinos and at the same time, help the millions of Filipino farmers,” he added.

Expected to grace the event is Special Assistant to the President Antonio Lagdameo, Jr. Also attending are Agriculture Undersecretary Domingo Panganiban and Farm Fresh co-founder Raphael Pelayo. Press release
