BALER, Aurora (PIA) — Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed a 1,322-lineal meter flood control project at barangay Salay in Dipaculao, Aurora.
P34.3 million was earmarked for the infrastructure under the 2023 General Appropriations Act.
DPWH Aurora District Engineer Roderick Andal said the project included the construction of 725-lineal meters of concrete slope protection on each side of Salay Creek, effectively safeguarding the surrounding area from creek overflow.
“The project’s scope extends beyond flood control as it also includes essential components such as a box culvert reinforced by retaining walls that can accommodate the passage of vehicles over the creek,” Andal added.
It also covers bank and slope protection works featuring stone masonry, concrete slope protection, gabions, and pipe culverts.
With the completion of the structure, DPWH Aurora District Engineering Office has taken significant steps to mitigate the risks posed by flooding to both the community and their economically valuable agricultural lands. (CLJD-PIA 3)
