BALANGA City: The Bataan police provincial office here announced that two motorcycle-riding men were arrested and firearms confiscated during the simultaneous launching of the Commission on Elections checkpoints in the province Monday, August 28.
Col. Palmer Tria, Bataan police director, said that one man yielded a caliber .38 revolver loaded with four live ammunitions in Hermosa, Bataan while another was found in possession of an improvised firearm with two live 12 gauge shells and five pieces heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu with estimated weight of 12 grams in Morong town.
Report showed that the Comelec checkpoint in Hermosa manned by the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company flagged down a motorcycle. The rider, instead of cooperating with the police officers attempted to escape.
Tria said the rider accelerated in full speed his motorcycle but accidentally hit and bumped the checkpoint signage that made the police officers to accost him.
At the Morong Comelec checkpoint, police officers intercepted a rider who upon inspection was discovered in possession of the improvised firearm with live ammunitions and five sachets of shabu, the report also showed.
PD Tria appealed for the cooperation and understanding of the public for any inconvenience that the Comelec checkpoint may cause but issued a stern warning to violators. (30)
