TALAVERA, Nueva Ecija (PIA) — Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed a local road at barangay Villa Marina in San Jose City.

The 0.97-kilometer infrastructure, which was implemented by Nueva Ecija 1st District Engineering Office, was done ahead of schedule.

Resident Evelyn Caluza said the newly built road has not only improved transportation but has also ended years of hardship caused by flooding.

Its elevated design and installation of cross drainage systems prevents rainwater coming from the mountains in entering residential and agricultural areas.

For his part, OIC-District Engineer Osias Santos said the infrastructure is now serving not only the residents of the barangay and neighboring communities but also motorists traveling to nearby provinces such as Nueva Vizcaya and Aurora, who choose to take this road to reduce their travel time.

Local road at Villa Marina is among the projects of DPWH’s Sustainable Infrastructure Projects Alleviating Gaps Program.

The agency allotted P9.5 million for the infrastructure under the 2023 General Appropriations Act. (CLJD-PIA 3)
