Samal, Bataan – The new three-story municipal building here was inaugurated Thursday as the start of the celebration of the 382nd Araw ng Samal.

Bishop Ruperto Santos of the Diocese of Balanga officiated in the Holy Mass and blessing with Samal Mayor Alex Acuzar, Vice Mayor Ronnie Ortiguerra, Gov. Jose Enrique Garcia 3rd, 1st District Rep. Geraldine Roman and Vice Gov. Cris Garcia cutting the ceremonial ribbon.

Acuzar said the construction was started during the administration of former Mayor Gene dela Fuente. He said that he learned from the engineering department that it was first funded for P80 million and subsequently increased to P120 million with P20 million coming from the provincial government and another P20 million from Pusong Pinoy Partylist.

An elevator is available in the municipal hall.

The mayor emphasized that even how beautiful, high-tech and advanced a municipal hall is, what is important is how the constituents are being treated and served.

He explained that their number one priority is poverty alleviation and they are now focusing on it with education. The next, he said, is health, followed by the availability of livelihood within their community.

“Paano naming mabibigyan ng magandang pamumuhay ang aming mga kababayan kung walang pagkakakitaan kaya kung may trabaho mismo sa aming bayan, hindi na aalis ang mga tao,” Acuzar said, noting that one solution is the planned ecozone in the town that will soon rise after the recent groundbreaking.

On the 382nd Araw ng Samal, Acuzar explained that they are not only thinking of the celebration but the people who have contributed and sacrificed to the founding of the town.
