BALER, Aurora (PIA) — Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed the construction of Pasaruboy Bridge in Casiguran, Aurora.

The infrastructure will connect barangays Cozo and San Ildefonso in the San Ildefonso Peninsula.

DPWH Aurora District Engineer Roderick Andal said Cozo and San Ildefonso are among the three barangays that make up the peninsula, separated by the Cozo River.

“Before, the lack of a reliable bridge made it difficult for residents to travel as they had to risk their lives crossing the river which is usually impassable during high tide just to get to the adjacent barangay or town center of Casiguran,” he shared.

With the completion of the bridge, residents and travelers are now given better access not only to barangay San Ildefonso but also to popular beach destinations in Casiguran.

The project includes construction of a 75-meter bridge with a width of 9.54 meters, and approach roads at Abutment A of 412.95 meters and at Abutment B of 123.67 meters.

A 362.30-meter concrete slope protection structure was likewise built to help prevent riverbank erosion and protect bridge piers from scouring.

P89.1 million was earmarked for the project under the 2022 national budget. (CLJD-PIA 3)
