BALER, Aurora (PIA) — Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed three flood mitigation structures in Aurora’s coastal and river areas.

A total of 1,968 lineal meters of concrete flood walls on steel sheet pile foundation was constructed along Maria Aurora Main Creek (1,055 lineal meters) in Maria Aurora, barangay Umiray (720 lineal meters) in Dingalan, and barangay Lobbot (193 lineal meters) in Dipaculao.

DPWH Aurora District Engineer Roderick Andal said the three flood protection projects are worth P205.88 million.

“These structures will help reduce flooding in the coastal and river areas to a bare minimum,” the official emphasized.

“Above all, these projects will lessen the worries of residents who live near those bodies of water which tend to overflow or cause tidal flooding especially during the typhoon season,” Andal added.

The projects also include a six-meter embankment, ramp and concrete stairs that residents and farmers can use as an access road. (CLJD-PIA 3)
