MARIVELES, Bataan — One died while another was injured when a dump truck hit and ran over the motorcycle they were riding in Barangay Townsite here past noon of Saturday.
Lt. Col. Emelito dela Cruz, Mariveles police chief, reported to Bataan police director Col. Romell Velasco that responding medics from the Mariveles Rescue Team declared dead on the spot the pillion passenger identified as Nowie Serrano, 24, of Barangay Lucanin, Mariveles.
The rider known only as Gilbert was injured and rushed to the Maheseco Hospital in Mariveles.
Report showed that the dump truck driven by Samuel Valmadrid, 24, of San Ildefonso, Bulacan was about to turn right towards a warehouse to unload cargo when the motorcycle behind tried to overtake the truck at the right side of the road.
The dump truck then hit and ran over the motorcycle.
Dela Cruz said the dump truck driver faces cases for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, physical injuries, and damage to property.
