TARLAC CITY – Rep. Christian Tell Yap (2nd District-Tarlac) was invited by the Australian government to participate in the Study Visit of Soil Science and Policy in Canberra on Dec. 5 and Brisbane on Dec. 7.

Yap met with officials of Australia’s Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water, the Australian Center for International Agriculture Research, and the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization.

He also met with the officials of the Soil Analysis Laboratory of the Griffith University, University of Queensland and the Ecosciences Precinct of the Department of Agriculture of the Queensland government.

According to Yap, the visit was aimed at finding ways to improve the quality of farm soil and other means to improve agricultural production in the province of Tarlac.

“Layunin po nating magamit ito sa pagpapabuti ng kalidad ng lupa at iba pang magpapataas ng produksyon sa sektor ng agrikultura,” he said.

He also said that the Tarlac delegation was able to learn a lot from the visit and thanked the House Committee on Agriculture and Food chairman Rep. Wilfrido Mark Enverga.

“Salamat po sa House Committee on Agriculture and Food at kay chairman Wilfrido Mark Enverga sa pagkakataong lalong mapabuti ang agrikultura sa bansa. Napakarami po nating natutunan mula rito at asahan niyo pong gagamitin natin ito para tuloy-tuloy ang Serbisyong MaYap,” Yap said.
