VICE President and concurrent Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Inday Sara Duterte graced the 120th founding anniversary of DepEd-Tarlac at the Bulwagang KanLahi of the Diwa ng Tarlac, November 16.

Speaking before DepEd-Tarlac officials, supervisors, principals, school heads educators, and local government officials, Duterte said that it is an honor to be invited as the guest speaker of the 120th founding anniversary of DepEd-Tarlac.

“Isang malaking karangalan para sa akin ang maimbitahan bilang tagapagsalita sa ika-120 Founding Anniversary ng Department of Education Schools Division of the Province of Tarlac dito sa Bulwagan ng Kanlahi sa Tarlac City ngayong hapon,” she said.

Duterte likewise made-mention of the oldest high school in the country, the Tarlac National High School and commended the men and women of DepEd-Tarlac.

“Ang probinsya ng Tarlac ay tahanan rin ng pinakamatandang mataas na paaralan sa Pilipinas, ang Tarlac National High School. Kapuri-puri ang mga kawani ng DepEd Tarlac sa kanilang taos-pusong serbisyo para sa ating mga Filipino learners,” the vice president said.

Governor Susan Yap in her welcome address said that, “It’s such an honor. I know that you took time to be here with us and celebrate this momentous occasion. Sa lahat po ng guro bumubuo po ng Department of Education, ako po ay nagagalak at nakikiisa sa isang napaka halagang occasion na ito ngayon. We should all be proud because to be established as one of the first, the very first school in the country it such an honor and pride to Tarlac.

Regional DepEd Director May Eclar, for her part expressed her gratitude to Duterte for gracing the founding anniversary.

Sa ngalan po ng DepEd Region 3 ay nais ko pong ipaabot ang akin pasasalamat at kagalakan sa ating Bise-Presidente at kalihim Madam Sara, sa kanyang pag papaunlak sa ating invitation para sa celebration ng ika-120th ng pag kakatatag Tarlac National High School, Maraming Salamat Madam sa pag bibigay halaga sa aming mga Tarlaqueno.

Others who attended the 120th Dep-Ed-Tarlac founding anniversary are Tarlac Schools Division Superintendent Rolando Pozon, Congressman Christian Yap, Vice Governor Carlito “Casada” David, Board Members Joy Gilbert Lamorena, Harmes Sembrano, Christopher delos Reyes, Danilo Asiaten, Henry Cruz, Romeo Evangelista and Joselito Capitulo, Mayors Rex Villa Agustin, Illuminado Pobre, Venus Jordan, Rosller Rodriguez, Elma Macadamia, Estelita Aquino, Celso Banag, Eloy Eclar, Erlon Agustin, Nora Modomo and Noel Villanueva. 

Duterte likewise visited the 15th Belenismo sa Tarlac celebration at the Camp O’Donnell in Capas and at the Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM) in Tarlac City.—Arvin F. M. Cabalu
