In its latest report, the DSWD regional office also noted considerable decrease in the number of cases of battered women from 125 to only 29.
The statistics compared figures on “children needing special protection (CNSP)” and “women in especially difficult circumstances (WEDC)” in 2015 during the Aquino administration and 2016 when the Duterte government took over mid-year.
On CNSP, the report also noted decrease in the number of abandoned and neglected children of either sex from 146 down to only 98 cases, incest cases from 20 to only seven, acts of lasciviousness from 27 to only seven, prostitution from eight to zero, and cyber pornography from two to zero.
Cases of physical abuse of children went down from 96 to 15, child labor from eight to zero, trafficking from 30 to six, psychological or emotional abuse from 13 to zero.
Meanwhile, the DSWD also reported downtrend in cases involving WEDC. Rape of women decreased from 17 to three, acts of lasciviousness from 13 to four, illegal recruitment from 17 to one, and trafficking from 25 to 15.
The number of reported emotional disturbed women, however, went up from nine to 16.
