MARIVELES, Bataan — A total of 49 differently-abled individuals here has undertaken a two-day training on printing of T-shirts and other souvenir items, the GNPower Dinginin Ltd. Co. (GNPD) announced Wednesday.
CJ Pascua, GNPD stakeholder and public relations associate, said they held the seminar for persons with disabilities from 18 barangays in Mariveles in collaboration with the municipal government headed by Mayor Ace Jello Concepcion.
She said that GNPD allocated P295,000 for the program to provide four heat presses, four cutter plotters with contour, four Epson printers, and four laminators, for beneficiaries to start their livelihood.
“GNPD chooses to support the PWDs to showcase, cultivate and promote their talent despite their disability. There is no conditional barrier to achieving life goals. The objective is to provide them with the right skills and tools to sustain their livelihoods,” Pascua explained.
Mayor Concepcion, councilor Susan Murillo, chairperson of SB committee for social services, and municipal social welfare officer Raymundo Cuadro attended the program held at the Cristina multi-purpose hall in Cabcaben, Mariveles.
Resource speaker Kevin Nigel Villareal shared knowledge and techniques on T-shirt printing.
Marites Madla, PWD federation president, thanked GNPD and municipal officials for the training.
GNPD is a 1,336 megawatts (gross 2x725MW and net 2x668MW) coal-fired power plant in Barangay Alas-asin in Mariveles.
Pascua said it is considered by far the biggest coal-fired power plant in the country per unit capacity, spanning 30 distribution utility contracts and two retail electricity suppliers.
It operates under the private limited partnership of AboitizPower’s Therma Power, Inc. and AC Energy Holdings, Inc., Ayala Corporation and Power Partners Ltd. Co.
