The Bataan prelate is chair of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines – Episcopal Commission for the Protection of Migrants and Itinerant People (CBCP – ECMI).
“We are very thankful to the government officials of the Philippines and Kuwait for signing the MOA. We appreciate the good efforts, good intentions and hard works of those who made the signing a reality,” Santos said.
Foreign Affairs Secretary Allan Peter Cayetano of the Philippines and Deputy Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Kahalid Al Hamad Al Sabah of Kuwait on Friday signed the agreement on the employment of domestic workers.
Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III and Malacanang spokesperson Harry Roque and other Philippine officials accompanied Cayetano in Kuwait.
“Let this MOA be the cornerstone of protecting and promoting the rights and welfare of our OFWs. It is also the testament of common collaboration, mutual respect and understanding of both countries,” the bishop said.
Santos asked everyone to pray hard that all parties will fulfi ll and be faithful to the contents of the agreement.
