TARLAC CITY (PIA) — Social Security System (SSS) visited six delinquent employers in Camiling, Tarlac.
This is part of its Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) Campaign, which aims to remind non-compliant employers in paying their obligations to the state-owned firm.
Camiling Branch Head Monalisa Nardo stressed that this campaign is covered by Republic Act No. 11199, otherwise known as Social Security Act of 2018.
“Under the new SSS Law, employers must be aware of their obligations such as registering their business to the SSS, reporting all employees for compulsory coverage, deducting from the salaries of their employees, and remitting their contribution to the SSS,” Nardo said.
SSS has extended its paradigm to implement remedial measures for employers who have been affected with the effects of the pandemic.
“We have a program called Pandemic Relief Restructuring Program 3 (PPRP) or also known as the Enhanced Instalment Payment Program, which employers can avail if they cannot fully pay their contribution delinquency,” she added.
PRRP 3 offers flexible payment terms ranging from nine to sixty months, depending on the total amount of their obligation. The settlement of an approximate of five million worth of contribution delinquencies inclusive of penalties will benefit 56 employees.
For his part, Luzon Central Legal Department Head Vic Byron Fernandez underscored the essence of increasing the awareness of employers on this campaign.
“Benefits that may be availed by the employee are all anchored on the proper and regular payment of contribution to SSS by the employer, that is why we highly encourage employers to pay their dues,” Fernandez said.
Member’s benefits include maternity benefit, sickness benefit, disability benefit, retirement benefit, death, funeral, and salary loan.
SSS encourages its members to keep track of their records through their My.SSS member account at www.sss.gov.ph and report any irregularities in their contributions and loan records.
