ANGELES CITY – Given the challenges brought about by the pandemic, the
farming industry needs all-out support, if only to sustain the basic needs of
every one for nutrients from fresh fruits and vegetables to stay strong and
healthy.
Luckily, MarQuee Mall, through its community engagement program,
Alagang Ayala Land, with Rural Rising PH (RuRi) launched Box-All-You-Can
(BAYC) to bridge the gap between consumers and farmers around the
country held at the mall last August 6-7.
Trisha Narciso–Dungca, marketing manager of MarQuee Mall, shared that
the mall has always been a strong supporter of MSME’s and maintains its
partnership with local government agencies like DTI, DOT, and DA in staging
events and activities promoting enterprises, local farmers, and fisher folks
to showcase their various produce through mall trade fairs.
“We provide venue for participants to sell their products directly to
consumers and give access to safe, fresh and quality products at affordable
prices,” she said.
BAYC is a game changer created by RuRi, a social enterprise dedicated to
harnessing the potential of the countryside and fostering rural prosperity
through agri-entrepreneurship. To help distress farmers all over Luzon, they
rescue tons of different fruits and vegetables from local farmers.
At the BAYC event, shoppers need to buy a 14x14x8-inch box for P699 only
and fill it to the brim with all the produce they like such as saging saba,
white purple corn, sweet potatoes, upo, eggplant, okra, string beans, bitter
gourd, sayote, thunder cucumber, Korean raddish, carrots, potatoes,
yacon, cabbage, zucchini, leeks, celery, baguio beans, wombok, tomatoes,
lemons, papaya, satsuma, santol and green ice lettuce. All income from this
event goes directly to farmers from the provinces of Benguet, Mountain
Province, Ifugao. Abra, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Nueva Viscaya,
Isabela, Aurora, Batangas, Quezon, Laguna, Rizal, Davao, General Santos
and Iloilo.
“This is the first BAYC in Pampanga. We have set to know succeeding
schedules but MarQuee Mall is always grateful and open to have event like
this in the mall,” Narciso–Dungca said.
