ANGELES CITY — Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr., on August 3 joined the
simulation exercise (SimEx) on active shooter and anti-criminality action plan at
Systems Plus College Foundation.
With the mayor during the SimEx were the Angeles City Police Office headed by
Col. Diosdado Fabian, and the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and
Management Officer led by Rudy Simeon.
Lazatin wants to ensure the students’ safety against crimes and emergencies in
the school premises, especially now that the start of classes is just around the
corner.
The city government in coordination with all the schools, is set to conduct drills in
all elementary, high school, colleges, and universities this August, maintaining
schools as safe spaces to the children.
The city social welfare and development office headed by Edna Duaso was also
tasked by Lazatin to hold a stress debriefing after the drills to prevent possible
trauma on children.
Further, the disaster personnel, law enforcers, and social workers will also receive
much additional trainings to equip them with necessary skills and needed
logistics.
To recall, Mayor Lazatin announced this crime prevention program during his
inaugural speech for his second term, delivering this as part of his flagship
programs.
