CLARK FREEPORT – A locator in this freeport is `now the first company in the
whole world to seek and obtain a Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) chain-of-
custody certification.
Dragon 24 Design & Printing Corp., which was established here in November
2017, had successfully completed a certification audit and was awarded the Chain
of Custody for FSC® Certification on July 1.
Dragon 24 has an area of over 1,500 square meters and has employed more than
80 workers. It specializes in manufacturing printed and handmade greetings
cards, packaging products, gift and hang tags, and other gift items providing only
the best quality. Dragon 24 is driven by a commitment to turn sustainable wood
fiber into useful products that people rely on every day.
FSC is the most rigorous international standard for responsible forestry. FSC
certified forests conserve biological diversity, water resources and crucial
ecosystems.
The FSC standard also upholds worker rights and supports economic prosperity in
surrounding communities. The FSC Chain of Custody certification ensures that
certified wood products are tracked from forest to final product (and if applicable,
that qualified recycled materials are used), adding legitimacy to the FSC claim
throughout the supply chain.
According to Asuncion Villanueva, Dragon 24 consultant from SIC Management
Service Inc., the company was able to obtain the FSC chain-of-custody
certification within only one month and a half.
Their FSC Team initially set a goal to work on the certification for three months;
however, Roana Marie S. Paras, Dragon 24 FSC management representative,
managed to comply and implement all requirements in just 1.5 months with the
help of their consultants and all department officers, including Kaushal Sutaria
(SIC senior manager), Gindhel Dela Peña (SIC associate consultant), Ruth Grace
Santiago (purchasing & HR), Mark Louie Pineda (accounting), Raven Espiritu
(production), Niño Gucela and Rheyson Millan (data management), Ryan
Mendoza and Carlito Pascua (warehouse), and Jhonel Migalang (health & safety).
In a statement after obtaining the FSC, Dragon 24 Design & Printing Corp. said it is
committed to providing quality products that help preserve the environment
while satisfying the needs and preferences of customers.
It added that by printing a certification label on their forest products, specifically
greeting cards, they inform their buyers that the product was produced in a well-
managed forest in accordance with a given set of standards.
Presently, consumers are concerned about social and environmental issues in
their purchases. This FSC Certification continues to solidify Dragon 24’s practices
in employing sustainable forestation to meet the needs of the present without
compromising future generation’s quality of life.
