CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The capital city of Balanga in Bataan will experience from eight to nine-hour power outages March 19-20, affecting at least four hospitals.

The Peninsula Electric Cooperative (PEC) said early advisories have been issued on power interruptions from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 19 as these would affect not only business establishments, but also the Bataan Doctors Hospital and Medical Center, St. Joseph Hospital, Isaac and Catalina Medical Center, and the state-run Bataan General Hospital in the city.

On Friday, the power interruption would last longer from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., affecting other parts of Balanga.

“Most of the city will be affected especially on March 20 to give way to the correction of power transformer oil leak in Balanga New Substation,” PEC said in a statement.

PEC named the significant sites to be affected by the power outage on Friday as the provincial Capitol compound, the city hall, the Balanga City Water District, the Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) Main and Balanga campuses, and the Camp Cirilo Tolentino headquarters of the provincial police.

The hospitals are also to be affected on Friday. While a few barangays in Balanga would be spared, the scheculed power interruption on Friday would be experienced in most of the city, including Barangays Talisay, Puerto Rivas, Tortugas, Tenejero, Rizal, Ibayo, Milabia, San Jose and Sibacan, as well as Dona Francisca, Dona Maria and Beltran subdivisions.

It will also affect business establishments such as Joyous, La Kristina, Vercons, KFC, Shell, Centre Plaza Mall, Jollibee, Max’s, Ocampo’s, Chowking, Red Cross, Crown Royale, Elizabeth Bodega, and JVN building.

On March 21, power outage from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. will affect Barangays Tuyo, Bagumbayan, Cataning, Hillcrest, as well as the Bataan Peninsula State University and business establishments including Vetafs, Bnco de Oro, Victoria Mall and McDonald’s.
