MARIVELES, Bataan — More than 9,000 housing units are set to be built here with the opening and blessing Friday of the 1Bataan Housing Showroom and the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the provincial government and the Pag-IBIG Fund.
Former Gov. Albert Garcia on his second day as congressman of the second district announced Saturday that the housing units will be built in the 1Bataan Township Housing project in Mariveles in coordination with Pag-IBIG Fund represented in the MOU signing by Philip Keith, vice president for home lending operations, Luzon group.
The project will benefit workers of the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan, informal settler families, and those included in the Supreme Court mandamus for the rehabilitation of Manila Bay.
In a related development, another MOU was signed between the provincial government of Bataan, Pag-IBIG Fund and the Treehouse Properties and Development Corp. for the Casa Valencia housing project in Balanga City. The new congressman said the housing units are intended for government employees.
Garcia said that with the coming in of new investors and the construction of the Bataan – Cavite bridge, the province has to start preparing for the big requirement for housing.
Attending the MOU signing were Gov. Jose Enrique Garcia III, Rep. Maria Angela Garcia of the newly-created 3 rd District, Pusong Pinoy Partylist Rep. Jett Nisay, Vice Gov. Cris Garcia, Mariveles Mayor AJ Concepcion, Metro Stonerich Corp. president Maxmillan Quintos, AFAB chairman Emmanuel Pineda, Architect Henry Mayuga and members of the Coalition of Labor Unions in Bataan.
