Vivant Corporation, a major player in the energy sector, teamed up with Globe Telecom’s
enterprise group, Globe Business, for the former’s successful migration to Amazon Web
Services (AWS) with the help of Cascadeo, Globe’s cloud services delivery arm.

Vivant identified the cloud migration of its remaining on-premise servers as a priority, in order to
consolidate and further improve the resilience of its infrastructure. The importance of cloud
migration was amplified by various lockdowns, which made access to physical data centers
challenging, as it requires round-the-clock management and upkeep to enable stakeholders to
consistently access company applications and digital services that are crucial to the business.
The decision to implement cloud initiatives, in partnership with Globe and Cascadeo, was a
conscious step towards achieving Vivant’s business goals while ensuring the welfare of its
workforce amid health risks.

Cloud experts from Cascadeo and Globe Business collaborated with Vivant’s technical team in
designing and implementing the migration of Vivant’s on-premise servers to AWS, supported by
a Strategic Collaboration Agreement (SCA). The SCA between Globe and AWS aims to invest
in an existing pool of trained and certified cloud professionals from Globe and Cascadeo, whose
customers will benefit from accelerated business transformation and modernized IT services.

“Cascadeo is in the business of ‘future-proofing’ companies such as Vivant Corporation, which
deals in one of the more traditional industries—utilities, specifically energy generation and
distribution,” said Raymond Policarpio, Vice President for Product Management and Marketing
at Globe Business, Enterprise Group. “Our technical expertise in the Cloud allowed us to help
Vivant successfully migrate to AWS, thereby driving their digital transformation and empowering
them as they adapt to the ever-changing business landscape.”

Vivant, with the support of Globe, implemented a lift-and-shift strategy for the migration of its
Human Resource Information System (HRIS) and Document Management System (DMS) to
AWS. This is to ensure minimal disruption to operations and end-users. Now, end users can
benefit from the high availability of HRIS and DMS services under the AWS infrastructure,
allowing them to efficiently manage and securely access files across internal departments.

To ensure the smooth operation of its web servers, Cascadeo secured Vivant’s applications with
SSL/TLS certificates. Vivant Corporation also now makes use of the AWS Managed Microsoft
Active Directory, a fully managed service that enables them to securely manage employee
devices and applications through the cloud, allowing them to share a single directory for cloud
workloads; centrally manage application access and devices in; easily extend existing domains,
and simplify administration with the managed service.

Led by cloud-certified engineers, Cascadeo’s managed services provided support for cloud
instances (virtual servers that run workloads in the cloud) monitoring, runbook recipes
(background information and practical procedures to accomplish IT or DevOps tasks), and
24x7x365 runbook remediation and advisory-level assistance to Vivant that enabled them to
enhance their cloud infrastructure operations.

“Vivant has always embraced the use of technology to improve our ability to deliver services
and streamline existing processes as we fulfill our commitment to provide solutions for a
changing world. Our partnership with Globe Business is part of our IT roadmap, designed to
improve efficiency and security,” said Carmela Franco, Executive Vice President and Chief
Corporate Officer for Vivant Corporation.
