CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Former Candaba Mayor and Pampanga gubernatorial candidate Danilo Baylon is offering a P2 million bounty for the capture of the still unidentified suspects in the ambush-murder of Barangay Captain Alvin C.Mendoza of Barangay Alasas this city in nearby Barangay Magliman last Friday morning.

At the same time, Baylon has appealed to the police and other law enforcement agencies for the speedy resolution of the murder case in view of its potential adverse fallout on the peace and order situation in Pampanga, especially in light of the current political season.

“We call on the Philippine National Police and other law enforcement agencies to work together to bring to justice the perpetrators of this heinous, cold-blooded and barbaric crime against a public servant as soon as possible,” Baylon said in a statement to Sun Star Pampanga.

Mendoza was driving his SUV on his way supposedly to join fellow candidates in a meeting at a hotel resort along the Jose Abad Santos Avenue in this city when he was overtaken by three men riding on two motorcyles. Based on a CCTV footage, two-riding men overtook Mendoza’s car and then shot him through the glass window and the door on the driver’s side. When Mendoza’s car stopped, one man immediately alighted from the bike and peppered the car’s windshield with bullets, peeking through the windshield as if trying to ascertain if Mendoza was already dead. Another man riding on another bike arrived seconds later and was seen also shooting on the driver’s side.

The broad daylight shooting has outraged many province -wide.

“Regardless of the motive, we cannot allow criminal elements in our society to inflict this abominable crime that has disrupted and smeared peace in our province as a whole which we have worked hard to achieve, maintain and sustain to serve as a model in peace and order not only in Central Luzon but in the whole country,”Baylon said.

Baylon said he was deeply saddened by the brutal death of Mendoza who was running as city councilor and called on Fernandinos and Kapampangans to remain calm and voice their collective outrage over Mendoza’s killing.

“The senseless killing must be stopped , the killers bring to justice and every Kapampangan condemn the evil and dastardly act that it is”, Baylon said.
