Candaba—Thousands of local residents here took to the streets braving the noonday sun to catch a glimpse of the campaign motorcade of Gov. Dennis Pineda and other local candidates on Saturday, April 2.
Gov. Pineda was joined by the Team Malugud slate headed by Candaba Mayor Rene Maglanque and Vice Mayor Michael Sagum, former 4th District Representative Anna York Bondoc, and Board Member Pol Balingit.
The re-electionist governor’s motorcade started at 3:00 pm in Barangay Barit where hundreds of local residents braved the noon day heat to show their support for the governor.
Initially touted as opposition-country, Candaba had shown its obvious choice for governor with long lines of people waving placards and posters in support of Gov. Pineda and local candidates during the motorcade. The motorcade snaked through the eastern barangays of the town as well as barangays in Candaba’s Tagalog regions.
“Hinihingi ng mga Candabeño na makita si Governor. Dahil taga dito ang kalaban niya. Ang suporta ay mararamdaman niya. Yung ginawa ni Nanay na siyam na taon at yung tatlong taong pamumuno ni Governor Delta, marami siyang natulungan sa Candaba na yung ang mga sumisigaw na ire-elect natin si Governor Dennis. Ang bayan ng Candaba ay bumuboto base sa performance ng kandidato,” Mayor Maglangque told reporters.
Gov. Pineda said that the border town of Candaba had been on his mind as among the areas to visit in his campaign trail to assure residents that the Capitol is always ready to help.
Candaba town has been in forefront of Pineda led projects and initiatives. Chief of these is the establishment of the Don Honorio Ventura State University (DHVSU) Candaba Campus in 2020.
Gov. Pineda had allocated some P25 million for the construction of academic buildings and facilities of the campus that is expected to provide accessible tertiary education for residents of the town and the 4th district.
Pineda is looking at further improving access to education of students in the town. For grade 12 students alone, Pineda had assisted some 1,458 Grade 12 students with P2, 500 cash assistance each under the Educational Financial Assistance Program (EFAP).
Amid the ongoing pandemic, the Governor had led the vaccination drive to inoculate some 15,000 residents of the town through vaccination drives in partnership with the municipal government.
Governor Pineda had also allocated some P10 million for the proposed rehabilitation of the Bahay Pare Public Market which will enable Kapampangans in Candaba’s Tagalog regions, which are the farthest barangays of the town, to have their own market access to goods and much needed supplies. The project is set for bidding.
