DINALUPIHAN, Bataan — One person died while another was injured when a tricycle and a trailer tanker truck figured in a head-on collision along the Olongapo–Gapan Road in a village here Saturday night.

Lt. Col. Emelito Dela Cruz, Dinalupihan police chief, identified the fatality as tricycle passenger Jeric Bongalon and the wounded as tricycle driver Ian Multi, both of Barangay Culis, Hermosa, Bataan.

Trailer tanker driver Salvador Mansanino Bibas, 38, of Talisay, Balanga City was unhurt and placed under the custody of the Dinalupihan police.

Report showed that the tricycle was heading towards the Layac junction while the trailer tanker was travelling at the opposite direction towards the Dinalupihan town proper when the two vehicles collided head on at the Olongapo–Gapan Road in Barangay Sta. Isabel.

Due to the impact, the tricycle caught fire but later extinguished by responding firemen. Both vehicles incurred still un-estimated cost of damages.

The tricycle driver and passenger were rushed to the Dinalupihan District Hospital but an attending physician declared the tricycle back-rider dead on arrival.

Dela Cruz said appropriate charges are being readied for filing against the tanker truck driver.
