ANGELES CITY — The Sinukwan Kapampangan and Cultural Center of the Philippines together with the city government of Angeles will hold a virtual dance recital dubbed “Kalinangan Kapampangan” to stream live via Facebook on October 29.
Kalinangan Kapampangan is a virtual celebration of Kapampangan arts and culture which will coincide with the celebration of the city’s Feast of Apung Mamacalulu.
The virtual dance performance is a recital from the Sinukwan Kapampangan and CCP’s Cultural Exchange Department – Kalinga ng Sining virtual workshop on traditional Kapampangan dances which were held last October 7 and 8.
Sinukwan Kapampangan creative director Peter de Vera said, in order for the Kapampangan arts and culture to be identified and recognized, they will be presenting virtual performances for research work here and abroad even amid the pandemic.
“Because of the situation now, we are trying to involve different programs and we are trying to inject Kapampangan arts and culture, in our case, music and dance, so we are trying to promote it.
Kalinangan Kapampangan will feature selected members from different schools and dance companies in Pampanga which will perform various interpretative dances from occupational to religious and historical to showcase the Kapampangan culture.
“Apart from the selected few members who will be performing, dahil during the workshop there were 30 to 40 students from different schools and dance companies in Pampanga who participated, but the performers, mag-shoot kami, hindi siya live. May minimum allotted members din kasi for groups in compliance with the health protocols,” de Vera said.
De Vera also mentioned that the Bantula International Conference on culture-based education and research featured a performance of the kids from Bale-Balayan on October 14 to 16. De Vera further said that apart from making connections, they want to continuously promote and develop Kapampangan arts and culture to nurture and be recognized not just in the Philippines but internationally as well.
