ANGELES CITY – There South Korean nationals wanted for fraud and illegal drugs in their home country were arrested here Thursday by agents of the Bureau of Immigration.
Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente identified those arrested as Han Jeongcheol, 47; Yang Wonil, 48; and Cho Sunggye, 56, who are all illegally staying in the country.
Morente said Han, who is wanted for illegal drugs in Korea, was being served a deportation warrant by the BI Fugitive Search Unit at his residence in a subdivision here when the team found Yang and Cho, who happened to be staying in the same house.
Han is reported to have a standing arrest warrant issued by a South Korean court on Aug. 23, 2018 rising from charges of violating his country’s Narcotics Control Act.
Verification with South Korean authorities revealed that Yang is also the subject of an arrest warrant issued by a Seoul district court a year ago for fraud in violation of Korea’s Criminal Act.
Cho, on the other hand, had been issued a deportation order by the BI eight years ago for being an undocumented and overstaying alien.
The three are now detained at the BI Warden Facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City pending their deportation. With BI-PR
