ANGELES CITY – The Chevalier School Alumni Association, CS Parents-Teachers Association, and Sacred Heart Seminary recognized the efforts of the local government and media on Chevalier School’s continued operation at the Legislative Building here on Thursday.
The plaques of appreciation were awarded to the members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod led by committee chair on education Councilor Alfie Bonifacio together with Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting, and Councilors Atty. Arvin Suller, JC Aguas, Raco Del Rosario, Marino Bañola, Dan Lacson, Jay Sangil, association of barangay captains president Jerry Alejandrino, and SK president Arnoah Mandani for their support in upholding the CS students’ rights to education and its continued existence and educational service in this city.
The CS stakeholders also awarded various media organizations including iOrbit News Online led by Deng Pangilinan and Mark Allen Sison, Punto! Central Luzon represented by Joann Manabat, and Brigada News FM 92.7 Pampanga headed by John Susi for their factual coverage and efforts on the issue to relay news to the public.
Pursuant to the decision of the Angeles City Regional Trial Court branch 58 on December 26, 2019, in the case of Chevalier School Employees Union, et. al, vs. Chevalier School, Inc. et. al., docketed as civil case no. R-ANG-17-00615-CV and the Sangguniang Panlungsod Resolution No. 9480 S-2021 dated April 27, CS will continue its operation until 2033.
According to SHS-CSAA president Victor Tanglao, the reconciliatory agreement between the CS stakeholders and the Archdiocese of San Fernando has brought CS “a new lease on life.”
“On the other hand, we agreed to allow the ASF to use our school frontage/soccer field for their own purpose. If we, the CS Stakeholders, did not intervene, the original agreement between the ASF and the MSC was for CS to exist only up to 2026 and with no assurance from the ASF in supporting MSC’s education ministry in Pampanga after 2026,” Tanglao said. “The ASF abided by the RTC ruling for CS to continue until 2033. The ASF will also continue to give their blessing for the MSC priests once CS relocates to another site after 2033.”
