The Department of Trade and Industry Aurora Provincial Office (DTI Aurora) is set to provide a total of Ph 38 Million worth of livelihood starter kits to 6,600 beneficiaries in the province through its Livelihood Seeding Program – Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay (LSP-NSB).
Director Leonila T. Baluyut, DTI-3 Regional Director said that the DTI is now preparing to procure the livelihood kits for distribution to the beneficiaries of LSP-NSB in all the eight municipalities of Aurora. She also noted that funding for the said project was supported by Senator Juan Edgardo Angara and Congressman Rommel Rico Angara.
Under the said program, beneficiaries from communities affected by the Covid-19 pandemic will receive livelihood packages worth Php 5,000 – 8,000 to enable them to improve their income opportunities. The packages are in the form of either Sari-sari store packages, Bigasan packages or Carinderia packages. Through the program, the DTI hopes to revive economic activity in the countryside of Aurora. The LSP-NSB program also aims to promote and build micro-enterprises in the province and help in enhancing inclusive growth.
Director Baluyut added that the DTI is set to establish 100 NegosyoSerbisyo sa Barangay launches in as many barangays. She said that this will help in pump-priming the economy in communities, especially with the slowdown in the economic activities brought by the pandemic. She further stated that the beneficiaries will not only receive livelihood packages but will also be trained on how to manage their micro-enterprise to make it more sustainable. The DTI will partner with the local Barangay Development Council in validating and monitoring the operations of the beneficiaries’ businesses to ensure the proper use of the packages and the improvement of their businesses. Through the NSB program, the DTI will also help in providing the beneficiaries access to its various services, such as business name registration, product development, market matching, Barangay Micro Business Enterprise registration, intellectual property registration, business advisory services and other business development services provided by the Negosyo Centers of DTI.
