CABANATUAN CITY – At least 738 personnel of National Irrigation Administration-Upper Pampanga River Integrated Irrigation System (NIA-UPRIIS) have received vaccinations – not against Covid-19 but against pneumonia.
Engr. Rosalinda B. Bote, department manager, said the vaccines were administered for free to boost the immune system of the employees of their various divisions and offices.
“Lalo ngayong panahon ng pandemya pero kailangan ang tuloy-tuloy na serbisyo sa ating mga kababayan,” Bote said, underscoring the importance of irrigation service in government’s bid for food sufficiency.
The inoculation of anti-pneumonia vaccines to employees started as early as November 2020. The vaccine will be effective for five years, Bote said.
A breakdown of the number of employees who have recived their shots showed 120 were from Division II, 142 from Div. III, the head office with 153, Div. I with 184, Div. V with 77, and Div. IV with 62.
Division VI and the Dam and Reservoir Division are set to conduct the vaccination activities within the second quarter of 2021.
