GAPAN CITY – Three suspected big-time drug traffickers, including a pregnant teen-ager, were arrested and over P1.1-million worth of shabu were seized in two successive police operations here Thursday.
Police identified the suspects as Cedrick James Galang, 31, of Barangay Putlod, Jaen, Nueva Ecija; Janina Roan Perez, 19, of Barangay Bayanihan here who is reportedly three months pregnant; and Tadeo Mancao, 46, of Barangay San Lorenzo, also of this city.
Nueva Ecija police director Col. Marvin Joe Saro said alleged cohorts Galang and Perez were arrested in a buy–bust operation in Barangay San Vicente here at about 7:10 p.m., following Mancao who was collared at about 3 p.m.
Both operations were conducted by a team led by Lt. Adonis Tagud under the direct supervision of citypolice chief Lt. Col. Edilmar Alviar and in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, according to Saro.
Investigation showed an undercover policeman managed to initially buy one sachet of shabu fromGalang and Perez. Upon arrest however, Galang reportedly yielded 33 more sachets, weighing over 160 grams with an estimated value of P1,122,000.
Police operatives, on the other hand, seized from Mancao one sachet of shabu with an estimated value of P1,500.
Police also recovered the buy bust money in both operations, said Tagud.
Tagud said the arrests were a result of several days of intelligence operation.
Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act were filed against the suspects.
