GUIMBA, Nueva Ecija – Irrigation ang local chief executives
in several northern Nueva Ecija municipalities vowed on Tuesday to work together in uplifting the plight of the agriculture sector through coordinated services.

“Sana sa pamamagitan ng irigasyon ay mapaasenso pa natin ang buhay ng ating mga kababayan,” said Mayor Jose R. Dizon of this town to Engr. Jose Ariel G. Domingo, newly appointed manager of interim Division VI of Upper Pampanga River Integrated Irrigation System.

The interim division serves portions of this municipality as part of its service area.

Sharing Dizon’s aspiration, Domingo stressed that his office has its line always open for anything that the LGU would raise for the farmers’ welfare.

In Talugtug town, Mayor Pacifico B. Monta said thatthe irrigation system paved the way for the productive utilization of several areas which used to be grassy for the past years.

“Pero meron pa ring ilang kailangan,” he said.

Domingo, who also visited the offices of Mayor Victor M. Badar of Nampicuan and Mayor Flor Paguio-Esteban of Cuyapo underscored the importance of close coordination between the LCEs in ensuring the successful implementation of their programs, particularly in providing irrigation services to local farmers.

“We really have to get the support and cooperation of LCEs, as well as farmers,” Domingo said.

The National Irrigation Administration plays a vitalrole in the government’s campaign for rice sufficiency, the officials noted. NIA has also encouraged farmers’ active participation in maintaining sound irrigation networks through the so-called irrigators’ associations
