SUBIC BAY FREEPORT — An airline employee and a fireman are the latest cases of the coronavirus disease in this freeport bringing the total cases among freeport residents to seven of which three have already recovered.
In a statement issued Sunday, Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority chair and administrator Wilma Eisma said the 28-year-fold female worker in the airline industry took an RT-PCR test on Aug. 22 because of dry cough and the results
She took RT-PCR on August 22, 2020 because of sey cough and the results released by the Philippine Red Cross Molecular Laboratory the following day indicated her being positive of the SARS-Cov-2 virus which causes the disease.
The patient is asymptomatic and has been placed in quarantine and under close monitoring by health care professional. She has no known contact in the freeport and the authorities had advised contact tracing in her work and home.
Eisma said the second case is that of a 36-year-old fireman of the SBMA who headed the team that decontaminated the Subic Container Terminal.
He was tested on Aug. 20, with the positive results released on Aug. 22. The patient is asymptomatic and has been quarantined. Contact tracing has been done both in workplace and at home and his close contacts will also be tested.
Eisma said that in view of the growing number of virus infections in the local community, all stakeholders of the SBFZ are advised to exercise further caution, strictly observed health protocols, and practice health safety measures both in the workplace and at home.
