BALANGA CITY – For their distinguished service to the Catholic Church, four women and a man from the Diocese of Balanga have been conferred with papal awards.
Bishop Ruperto C. Santos on Tuesday announced that Pope Francis has conferred the Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice cross to Digna Calina, Maria Basilia Garcia, Sonia Rufin, and Leticia Viscayno.
Victor Quezon, on the other hand, was bestowed with the title Knight of St. Sylvester.
“Inspite of our hardships and sufferings because of the coronavirus disease, we still experience God’s graces. The diocese is blessed with these awards from the Holy Father. We are very grateful to our Supreme Pontiff” Santos said.
“It is indeed a huge inspiration for us to share God’s goodness and encouragement that amidst this difficult and devastating time of Covid–19, God is with us and we will surpass this pandemic,” the prelate added.
