DINALUPIHAN, Bataan – As part of its relief operations during the modified enhanced community quarantine, the municipal government here on Wednesday started distributing one-half cavan of rice to each household in 46 barangays.
Municipal administrator Roland Rojas said Mayor Maria Angela Garcia directed the immediate release of the rice thinking of the welfare of residents at a time when they do not know where to source their daily food at this time of the pandemic.
Rice in half–cavan sacks was distributed through door–to–door delivery to each household supervised by LGU employees and department heads.
Rojas said the first recipients were from barangays Aquino, Bonifacio, Burgos, Del Pilar, Mabini Proper, Padre Dandan, Rizal, Zamora, Bayan-Bayanan, Magsaysay, Payangan and Tubo-Tubo.
He said distribution will continue until all 32,500 households are served.
“Mayor Garcia while helping the villagers in the form of rice is also providing income for drivers and operators of public utility jeepneys that were used in delivering the grains,” Rojas said.
Just for Wednesday, about 40 jeep loads of rice were delivered.
