MARIVELES, Bataan — Beef steak for Friday. Kare-kare on Saturday. Kaldereta on Sunday. Beef broccoli for Monday.
A delectable lunch menu – no, not of some fancy restaurant, but something specially prepared for the villagers under enhanced quarantine in Barangay Alion here.
Barangay chairman Al Balan on Friday said thebarangay council butchered a cow to serve for the lunch of 1,223 families for four days.
The council bought the cattle out of donations from French Ambassador to the Philippines Nicolas Galey and wife Camelia Galey, Sarah Tanalgo and the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers in Bataan.
This was not the first time members of the barangay council had prepared delicious food during the ECQ for residents. In the past days, they have distributed cooked fish in different flavors, adobong baboy, and other recipes from pork, chicken, and goat meat.
Assisting in the food preparations were officials of the village led by Balan and volunteers.
Aside from financial assistance from the provincial government under the Kusina sa Barangay program, Balan said Gov. Albert Garcia, 2nd District Rep. Jose Enrique Garcia III, Mariveles Mayor Jocelyn Castaneda, and many private donors have not forgotten the barangay.
“Maraming salamat sa inyong lahat at sana huwag kayong magsawa sa pagtulong sa amin,” the punong barangay said.
