Samal Lying-In Center
SAMAL, Bataan — The Rural Health Unit here has opened an online consultation to serve villagers while lessening the influx of people, especially those with minor health concerns, in the municipal health centerduring the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine.
RHU midwife Lolita Elvambuena Poblete on Tuesday said the project launched by the RHU under municipal health officer Dr. Cristina Espino has the full support of Samal Mayor Aida Macalinao.
Three rural health physicians – Dr. Ryan James Suguitan, Dr. Paul Kevin Ibarbia and Dr. Patricia Ysabel – alternately took turns in serving people consulting online.
Online consultation is from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday. Numbers that can be called are 0949-1405514, 091-52974334, 0927-5386159 and 0961-223294. Samal RHU has also a social media page.
Catherine Villasor, RHU encoder, said callers are asked for personal information for coding in the electronic medical record. After encoding, the record is forwarded and endorsed to the doctor on-duty who then attend to the caller online.
She said that an average of 15 to 20 persons daily haveavailed themselves of the online consultation since it opened this month.
Villasor said the doctor’s prescription is also sent online through the social media page of the Samal RHU. If there are available medicines at the health center these are given free, she said.
The health center housed at the Lying-In Center is also open for personal consultation from Mondays to Fridays at 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. aside from the online consultation.
