BAGAC, Bataan — This mountain town in Bataanadjacent to the West Philippines Sea has established two quarantine facilities of its own to serve its residents who are considered persons under monitoringand persons under investigation with mild status.
Michelle Pillagara, secretary of Mayor Rommel del Rosario, on Sunday said the quarantine facilities are located at Mt. Zion, a former retreat house now owned by Genesis Transport Corp., and at the guest house of the National Power Corporation.
She said that their mayor and the sangguniang bayan placed their town under extreme enhanced community quarantine and strictly saw to it that no returning resident, both from Metro Manila and abroadconsidered as PUM, go straight to their homes unless quarantined for 14 days.
Those considered as mild PUI have an exclusive place at Mt. Zion while those who were hospitalized for pregnancy and other post-operative cases have also to undergo quarantine at the NPC guest house, Pillagara said.
“Hindi sila pinauuwi ng diretso sa mga bahay nila, kailangan mag-quarantine muna sila ng 14 days,” the mayor’s secretary said.
She said that since March 28, when they opened the facilities, 68 underwent quarantine with 42 already completed at Mt. Zion and three others at NPC.
Personnel of the municipal health office and the rural health unit serve as frontliners in the two facilities while police and town marshals provide safety and security. Employees of the municipal social welfare and development prepare the food.
“Ang mga SB members kasama ang vice-mayor ay naghati-hati ng assignment sa pagpapatakbo ng quarantine facilities. May naka-assign sa decontamination, sa water and essential needs at sa iba pang kailangan ng operation,” Pilagara said.
Mayor del Rosario was on hand every time a batch completed the quarantine requirement. He asked them to be patient and cooperative to prevent the entry of the coronavirus disease in the town.
