CLARK FREEPORT — On its 15
th year as one of the oldest in the country, the Tri-Clark Triathlon team (Tri-Clark) officially signed a title sponsorship deal with Scania Philippines at Fortune restaurant here Friday.

The signing of the memorandum of agreement was led by Tri-Clark’s founding president Rene Ricardo Tayag, president John Darius Villanueva, and vice president Joseph Coronel; BJ Mercantile Inc.’s vice president Leilani Lim Tan, IT manager Alvin Tan, marketing manager Peachy Tamayo, and sales manager Don Ramos. BJ Mercantile, Inc. is the appointed sales and services dealer of Scania in the Philippines that was launched in February 2015.

The Tri-ClarkScania partnership is a result of both organizations’ commitment to promote active lifestyle and sports tourism while working towards a sustainable future.

“We are excited to work with Scania Philippines. The alignment was clear from the start. We want our members and every individual in their company to lead an active lifestyle. And while doing it, we want to minimize our environmental footprint, our contribution to the bigger goal of sustainability,” said Villanueva.

Scania is a world leading provider of transport solutions and manufacturer of commercial vehicles such as heavy trucks and buses. One of its sustainability programs is to educate the public by organizing various sports activities and different environmental programs such as tree planting to help achieve change in the future.

“This partnership is not just a simple sponsorship, it is the task of Scania to be able to provide sustainable solutions,” said Tan. “We have programs that we put in place wherein we can help in reducing the carbon footprint such as tree planting activities as well as promoting sports and environmental advocacies.”

“This is a great opportunity for Scania to be a true partner-driven leader in the shift towards a sustainable transport system. Together we can help promote sustainability by educating the public and sports community and hopefully change future behavior,” Tan added.

The TriClark – Scania Triathlon Team is a group of accomplished professionals and executives from various industries based in Pampanga. The members are passionately living the multi-sport lifestyle of triathlon, duathlon, and running. Its advocacy is to promote Clark and Pampanga as a venue for athletic training and sports tourism.

“We will be doing multisport training camps and events and the aim is to encourage more people to jump into the lifestyle. We have been doing this for 15 years and the mission to promote the sport of triathlon, duathlon, running and cycling never ends,” Villanueva noted.
