MABALACAT, Pampanga – At least 1,503 women in 2011, an estimated 100 percent increase compared to 2010 records, were served at birthing stations here as part of the municipal government’s revitalized health care program, Mayor Marino “Boking” Morales disclosed on Wednesday.
Morales said that he had prioritized the establishment of birth stations at thickly populated areas, notably at the resettlements centers.They are at Mawaque, Madapdap and Camachiles resettlement centers.
“The number of patients served in 2010 was more than 700. It increased tremendously after we improved the birthing stations the following year,” said Morales.
“We have been aggressive in our mission to bring medical services to the poorest of the poor,” he added.
Morales said that Rural Health doctors also provided free medical services to some 314 patients in 2011.
“Our birthing stations do not just serve pregnant women. We also give other medical services,” he stressed.
At least 19,063 out-patients were treated at the three birthing stations.
Morales said that “over-all the number of patients served increased by at least 100 percent in 2011 compared to records last 2010.”
