ANGELES CITY – “We are not here to win awards but to impose obedience and police force with respect to human rights.”

Thus said Mayor Edgardo “Ed” Pamintuan yesterday as he led city officials in commending the police for the recent arrest of the 28-year-old computer technician accused of killing five people at Hensonville Court subdivision here last July 22.

Pamintuan also underscored the importance of the private sector’s cooperation in preventing and solving crimes.

He added that bonding between the city government and ordinary citizens is needed to immediately solve problems and crimes.

Pamintuan also gave the P100,000 cash reward to the Tropang Crime Watch (TCW) whose leader, Rey Malig, was instrumental in the arrest of Mark M. Dizon of Barangay Salapungan in San Fernando City, La Union, on July 27.

Five counts of murder and illegal possession of firearms had been filed against Dizon by the police led by Senior Supt. Danilo Bautista, this city’s police director.

Pamintuan said he did not give the cash reward donated by businessmen here to police “because they can do their job even without getting an award or cash.”

The first-term mayor lauded Bautista and his people for “a job well done”.

The city government and the Angeles City Police Office (ACPO) commended members of the Task Force Mitchell led by Superintendents Wendy Rosario, Rommel Bathan and Elvis Diaz who posted as a member of the New People’s Army (NPA) during the arrest of Dizon last week.

The task force was named after retired US Air Force Albert Mitchell, 70, one of the five persons murdered at their house in Hensonville.

In the same event, Pamintuan also commended civilians and barangay officials instrumental in solving murder and robbery cases in the city for the past few months.

Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting and Councilors Alex Indiongco, Jericho Aguas, Alfie Bonifacio, Bryan Nepomuceno and Dan Lacson also attended the awarding ceremony at the ACPO office in Barangay Sto. Domingo.
