MABALACAT CITY- The chief of the Social Security System (SSS) here said yesterday employers, including those who have househelpers, have up to Sept. 1 to avail themselves of “condonation and non-imposition of penalties on delinquent social security contributions.”
In an interview with Punto, SSS-Dau Branch acting chief Chelin Lea Nabong said the privilege would cover those who have “katulongs” at home most of whom still have to be made aware that they are employers who are covered by SSS laws and regulations.
They have to register with SSS so that their household help could also be covered by SSS benefits, she said.
Nabong also said the condonation and non-imposition of penalties privileges also cover those with pending or approved proposal under the existing installment payment scheme program of the SSS; those with pending or approved application under the SSS program for acceptance of properties offered through “dacion en pago’; those with pending cases involving collection of contributions and/or penalties or non-reporting of employees before the Social Security Commission (SSC), the regular courts or the Department of Justice or Office of the Prosecutor.”
Also covered are those against whom judgement had been rendered either by the SSC or the regular courts but have not complied with the judgement; those who settled all contributions before the effectivity of R.A. No. 11199 but with unpaid or partially paid penalties for none or late remittance, and; those against whom a warrant of distraint, levy or garnishment or encumbrance had been issued.
Nabong said R.A. No. 11199 is also known as the Social Security Act of 2018 is the issuance granting condonation and non-imposition of penalties on delinquent social security contributions whose details were contained in a resolution of the SSC dated March 13, 2019.
