CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – At least 11 towns were included in the list of election hotspots in Pampanga as intense political rivalries are expected to flare up in those areas on May 10.
Pampanga police director Senior Supt. Manuel Gaerlan identified the towns as Guagua, Lubao, Mexico, Arayat, Macabebe, Masantol, Candaba, Apalit, San Simon, Porac and Mabalacat.
Gaerlan made the announcement during the meeting with members of the Pampanga Press Club (PPC) and National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP) in his office here on Wednesday. He welcomed the plan of journalists in helping the police ensure a peaceful and honest election.
“I encourage groups like you in helping us ensure a peaceful election. Others citizens’ groups are welcome,” Gaerlan said.
He also stressed that the police “is ready for the May polls.”
The police director urged NUJP, PPC and other press groups to also coordinate with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to make their election watch “official.”
The PPC and NUJP met with Provincial Election Officer, Atty. Temmie Lambino in his office yesterday afternoon for coordination and accreditation.
