ANGELES CITY- An American national wanted for rape in Alaska two decades ago was arrested recently by operatives from the Bureau of Immigration (BI) Fugitive Search Unit in this city.

The BI identified the suspect as Carmen Daniel Perzechino Jr., 57, who was arrested last April 4 after the US Embassy in Manila coordinated with the BI regarding his presence in the country.

Perzechino was a subject of an arrest warrant for allegedly kidnapping and raping a woman in Sterling, Alaska almost two decades ago.

“The crime was committed 18 years ago, but now he has been caught by our men, and will be sent back to his country to face trial,” the BI said.

Perzechino fled to the Philippines in February. He was placed under the custody of the immigration facility at Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig while awaiting his deportation.

The suspect will be banned from re-entering the country, according to the BI.

“If he did that in the US, then there is a possibility that he might commit the same crime in the Philippines. Criminals like him ought to be barred from ever setting foot in our country,” the BI said.
