CLARK FREEPORT – Four cases of suspected election-related killings have so far been noted by the police in Central Luzon, but there are no election hotspots yet being eyed in the region.

Police Supt. Fe Greňas, in a forum of the Pampanga Press Club at Park Inn here, however, said the four killings have yet to be “validated” as related to elections. Two of the cases were recorded in Nueva Ecija and one each in Tarlac and Bulacan.

Greňas, who represented Central Luzon police director Chief Supt. Joel Napoleon Colonel, also reported that in relation to the May elections, the police in Central Luzon have established 25,900 either permanent or temporary checkpoints, arrested 320 persons mostly for possession of either illegal drugs or weapons, and confiscated 449 firearms.

“The police will certainly remain apolitical in the coming elections. We will just secure the orderly conduct of the midterm elections,” she said.
